[Weekends are usually pretty busy at the shop, but Jaeger doesn't have any problems taking this one off to spend with his husband. If he could get away with it, he might genuinely consider taking every weekend off, but there's no reason to do that. He'll just enjoy it while it lasts!
Unsurprisingly, he's up fairly late, as he usually is whenever he doesn't have to go into work. He can certainly function as an annoying morning person, but he greatly prefers sleeping in. So now that he's finally up, he'll head to the study first, to see if his husband's already there. You in here?]
[He is, yes! He's at the desk for the time being, going through notes like he's trying to find something; he'll glance up when Jaeger comes in, however, and he keeps himself from moving to put his sunglasses back on once he has.]
I remembered someone new recently. According to what I've remembered, I was keeping track of him for some reason... However, I haven't found any mentions of this person anywhere in my notes, nor do I have any idea why he would interest me in particular. I don't think I felt positively toward him, but I didn't hate him, either.
[So like. Some rando, apparently? Despite the fact that he was apparently important enough to get a memory to himself that was pretty much "this person was relevant for some reason."]
[Shuji's place is a very, very expansive library. All the books are in Japanese, so good luck making use of that if you don't read the language, but on the plus side: it has its own bar! And Shuji will translate Wesker's order for him, and only wince a tiny bit when he slips into Tsugaru dialect.
So the most recent memory I got back was Dazai threatening to kill himself if a famous writer didn't agree to meet with him, because that is a completely appropriate letter to send someone you've never met. Cripes.
[Jaeger's been a bit absentminded today, off in his head since he woke up and a bit distracted even before work. Things certainly haven't been any better at work, and he's a little late coming home since Retrospec felt the need to finally give him some gifts.
He's still a little distracted when he returns home, but he makes his way to the study immediately. Two of the items - a white disc and some clothes - are dropped into a chair, but the third item is a vase full of red and orange flowers, and that is placed carefully on an end table.]
I'll move that later, I promise. I'm not really sure what to do with it right now.
["Distracted" is certainly accurate, but "anxious" might also be a good descriptor of Jaeger's tone. He really doesn't like all of this.
But that's not going to keep him from realizing that he hasn't even properly greeted his husband.]
[Somehow he's not particularly...surprised at the flowers; he's gotten his own weirdass plant life from Retrospec, along with general encouragement to partake in some sort of weird horticulture amateur hour, and honestly he wasn't sure how to feel about it either. So it isn't entirely unexpected, but it's interesting - though it isn't as though he's missed Jaeger's tone any, either.]
[He pauses to evaluate exactly what he's feeling before he sits down.]
I think I'm okay? I've remembered something and it's... strange, I suppose?
[Give him a moment, let him try to explain.]
"Yeager" is the person I've been receiving memories of, but I haven't remembered anything about who I was before I became Yeager.
I'm still not sure exactly what I was like, but I was a member of the Imperial Knights, serving under Casey in her brigade. It was a brigade made up of idealistic individuals who were hoping to change things within the knights. There were commoners and nobles alike, and it seemed... nice. I don't remember much about how things were, or what happened to Casey and the rest of us.
[...]
I knew I was someone else before "Yeager", I just wasn't expecting a knight. It's a little strange, to have been missing something like this all this time.
[What was he like before he died? Was he really a "True Knight" like Casey and the others? It's a bit hard to imagine, given everything he was as Yeager and even who he was before Retrospec in this life.]
[He thinks he does, anyway - his past life didn't have any memories at all before he was eighteen or so, and he imagines that this would be similar to finding out that he was wildly different back then in that dead space where his damn childhood should go.]
[Today's been a busy day. It's been a really weird day, but when Jaeger arrives home (later than usual, though he let Wesker know he'd be late), he looks a little preoccupied. He doesn't have any weird items to deal with today, though, so at least there's that. He enters the study and takes his usual seat, like always. This time he won't wait for Wesker to prompt him to discuss it, at least.]
...I think Alexei might be on the network. I'm not certain - he has a different name, he doesn't seem to be a perfect match - but he looks almost exactly the same in the face.
[So yeah, there's that. He's not angry or upset though, just kind of wigged out. But don't worry, this is about to go from bad to stupid real fast.]
[...Oh. There is honestly nothing about this that sounds promising, but...
Wesker had been messing with one of those puzzles of his, waiting for Jaeger to return home, but he'll rather quickly set that aside once he's told what's going on.]
Are you all right?
[...Perhaps more to the point, is Alexei all right, or are we moving a body.]
[He tips his head a bit while he thinks about it.]
It's complicated, and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it right now, but I talked with him quite a bit today. He was going to rush off into a potentially dangerous situation and even though I could have let him go and possibly get killed, I didn't feel right letting that happen.
[...]
So instead I went with him and watched him exorcise one of those leylines, which we then traced back to something that can best be described as "literally Cthulhu", which is about when we decided neither of us were going to deal with that today.
...You thought you found Alexei today, so you went out with him to...watch him exorcise the ground, I suppose, and somewhere along the line you believe you found an elder god.
[that was kind of wild from start to finish, jaeger.]
[It's the start of a new month, so there's probably not a ton to worry about in the city for a little while. Hell, even if there was, Jaeger's really only got his mind on one thing, and he's a little early in returning home today to take care of it.
More accurately: him, because Jaeger's very worried about his husband.
He'll enter the study first thing to see if Wesker's already in here. Hopefully you're not in the basement...?]
[He is in the basement, though it isn't for long, just dropping some things off down there; he arrived home recently himself, given that Retrospec had a few...gifts for him today, and he doesn't exactly want them out in front of God and everyone. He isn't planning on Jaeger to be home early today, either; he comes upstairs shortly after Jaeger makes his way to the study, and this is...unexpected, hello.]
...Jaeger. Were you looking for me, or...?
[...Unexpected, but not a bad thing from the sound of it. Hi.]
[It's the eighteenth, which means it's Wesker's birthday. Ever since running across that thing up in Magatus, they've been holed up at home. It's not like that ever bothers Jaeger; he has competent employees who can run things in his absence and he does enjoy spending time with his husband, after all. Wesker seems to be doing all right, even though he's quieter and obviously still working through things. That's perfectly fine, because it's given him time to take care of a few things he's been working on.
Oh, and it also gave him enough time to order and get a cake delivered.
He's actually up early this morning, and you'll find him in the kitchen putting away the last of the groceries - though you'll probably notice the small, wrapped box and the cake before Jaeger's even realized you're here.]
[Oh. Well, he certainly wasn't expecting Jaeger to be up early, seeing as he doesn't have to be, but he isn't precisely going to complain about it, either; it's just different, and when Wesker makes his way downstairs he's dressed and presentable, as usual.
The sound of someone in the kitchen is easy enough to follow, and he does notice the box and the cake, though for a good while he can't figure out why they're there; to his knowledge it's not exactly an occasion, and it takes him a moment to remember that right, it sort of is, isn't it.]
[Well, it's a bit too late, you've already seen both of them, so he laughs it off.]
Happy birthday, Albert! I figured you'd want to stay in today, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to celebrate a bit! Don't worry, we'll get into the cake later.
[Things have been going okay lately, which Jaeger's relieved about. He tends to worry about Wesker when he gets quiet like this, but this isn't the sort of quiet that usually causes him to fret. Wesker's clearly been sorting through some things, but he seems fine otherwise, and Jaeger's glad to see it.
He's later in waking up today, because when left to his own devices he will always sleep in. He'll head on downstairs after preparing for the day. He's not going anywhere, of course, but he's picky like that anyway.
So, are you hanging out in the study working on that puzzle he got you...? He does have a few questions for you today!]
[Oh my god, he actually has a decent portion of this figured out? He left it alone for a little while and then literally decided to give up and start this stupid puzzle from the center instead of the edges, and holy shit, he's making so much progress. Like an epiphany from on high.
...So yes, he's in here, working on it and looking Very Intense for a man trying to put together a bright blue jigsaw puzzle, as one does. Though he does notice he isn't alone, however.]

no subject
I take it you slept well.
no subject
Ja, of course! It really is amazing how reinvigorated you can feel after sleeping in!
[He'll come over though, sitting on the far edge of the desk so he's not in your way, but close enough so he can see what you're up to.]
What are you looking for?
