[The assault shotgun is likewise fired directly into the eyeball, though he's quick to move back as soon as the thing opens - it's staring right at them, it's creepy as hell, and you know what, Wesker actually does not have any experience with his world's tendencies toward eyeballs being where they don't belong?? That was mostly Leon's department...

That said, it's fortunate that he moves back when he does, because the layer above the creature is soon ruptured by the tentacles surrounding it, reaching up in an obvious attempt to grab.]

[He admittedly doesn't know what will happen if one of them is grabbed by it, but he doesn't really want to find out, either.]

[His weapon shifts to the sword easily; he'll cut down any of the tentacles that come our way, don't worry about that. He's got both that and the scythe and he tends to be a bit more comfortable with close-range fighting anyway. If he gets a break - which seems unlikely - he'll go back to shooting at the eye as well, but for now he'll cut these down.]

[The ground shakes, slight tremors at first that threaten to become more violently the longer they go on; Wesker nods briefly at Jaeger's words, indicating that he's heard, but he doesn't seem inclined to take the rumbling ground beneath his feet as a threat worth being afraid of - if anything, he'll move closer to the eye itself, approaching it with reasonably little caution for the sake of getting a better shot, unloading the shotgun into it a couple more times before switching it out for the machine gun.

He lets the spray of bullets run wide, covering the surface of that massive eye as best he can; there's no noise coming from it, just an increasing violence in the tremors and an increasing aggressiveness in those tendrils fired up from the ground, the black veins surrounding the eye itself pulsating sharply with each hit.

He'll stay close, of course, keeping out of the range of gunfire but also taking out any of the tentacles that get close. Occasionally he'll get a moment to catch his breath, but nothing more than that. This thing isn't letting up, and he's not going to let it have a chance to grab either of them. Who knows what it'd actually do?? Let's not find out.]

[It's not letting up, no, but neither is your husband; once the machine gun is spent it's back to the shotgun, shot after shot after shot of high-powered rounds being fired into the thing until the tremors coursing through the ground are accompanied with the sensation of the ground being ripped up from below, sharply and violently enough to actually get Wesker to back off.]

Jaeger, get away from it -

[And with the tearing of the ground, the thing uproots itself - not to die, but rather to just...go, weirdly undulating off to god only knows where, somewhere across the city in the opposite direction.

Wesker's breathing is heavy, but that's...huh.]

[Jaeger stumbles back just out of range, though he's knocked over by the tremors when the thing tears itself from the ground. He's doing his best to catch his breath, but that sure is... a thing, isn't it, damn.]

[Following it isn't terribly difficult, though Wesker does slow down well short of where the thing ends up; there are things about the city that don't seem...right, shifts in the buildings and figures and forms where they shouldn't be, odd changes in the sky and he keeps thinking he's seeing something out of his peripheral vision but nothing is there - it's like something is shifting reality around, but it isn't as though he can tell what or how, precisely.]
