[Apparently getting a good night's sleep is going to be a struggle tonight as well. Jaeger's used to recalling memories in his dreams, and all things considered, this one isn't actually all that bad? It's mostly just confusing and out of context, like pretty much everything he remembers.
It does jolt him awake abruptly though, and while he doesn't bolt upright, he does move a bit so he can press a hand to the blastia, as if to make sure it's still functioning like it should (and of course it is; he wouldn't be around to check on it if it wasn't).
So. That happened.
Wesker's death last night had been much more traumatizing, though maybe that was because of everything leading up to it. This one was just... "depressing" might be the right word, but he certainly didn't feel upset. If anything, he was relieved he was dying. That's... troubling, but not really what Jaeger's caught up on.
He releases a breath he didn't realize he was holding and moves to sit up. Wesker's definitely going to wake up, but he just needs a moment to sort himself out before he tries to go back to sleep.]
[Wesker is sleeping as lightly as ever, it seems, though it takes him a moment to sort out what's going on; Jaeger doesn't seem alarmed, just kind of odd, and it goes a decent way toward keeping him calm as he tries to get himself figured out.
He'll shift after a moment, turning to face Jaeger more fully and propping himself up a bit on the bed.]
[Probably? He doesn't feel nearly as off or messed up as he did last night.]
I just remembered something.
[It's not the sort of thing he'd ever want to keep from Wesker - even if he could keep it from Wesker - but at the same time he's suddenly not sure he wants to talk about it. Not because of how he feels, but because he's going to force Wesker into dealing with this at some ungodly hour. Absolutely no one needs that.]
[It's been a few days since the dreamdives happened, which has given Jaeger plenty of time to think about them. He hasn't been off in his head very much or noticeably upset or anything of the sort, but he has been much more clingy than usual. He always wants to spend time with Wesker, but usually he's content letting Wesker have his space sometimes. Jaeger's largely independent and he'll do whatever strikes his fancy, whether Wesker wants to come with him or not.
Lately, however, he's been returning straight home after work and spending as much time as possible with Wesker. He'll usually text him during work as well, just to hear from him even if they don't talk about anything important. He's certainly not trying to be stifling, but Wesker's dreamscape has sort of left him feeling anxious and on edge, and all he wants to do is be right beside his boyfriend.
So unsurprisingly, he returns from work at the normal time tonight and makes his way to the study. Wesker's already in here, right?]
Jaeger isn't the only one that's been a bit preoccupied with the dreamscapes lately; Wesker is, as always, far less demonstrative about it, but he's been quiet and generally seeking out a fair amount of time where he can just sit with Jaeger and try to sort through things. His own is still fresh in his mind, but so is Jaeger's; perhaps that's what drives him to bring out a few things from the shelves today, a couple of albums to hold photos and the like.
He's been working on one of them lately; the other is decidedly older. He'll keep them close for now, though he'll keep them set aside on the end table when Jaeger comes in. Something for later, perhaps, for now he focuses on greeting his boyfriend.]
[Jaeger definitely notices the albums, but he figures Wesker will tell him about them later, so for now he's content to join his boyfriend on the couch, sitting close as usual.]
It's been fine! Nothing terribly interesting today, I'm afraid. It was fairly slow, so I rearranged some things.
[...It's probably not a surprise that he can't sit still for five damn minutes when he's not around Wesker...]
[It's become routine for Jaeger to return home from work and immediately check the study to see if Wesker's there, and today is certainly no exception. He still wants to do nothing but hang out with his boyfriend, but he'd never dream of neglecting his work. Are you in here?]
[Even if you could, your boyfriend wouldn't neglect his. So at least there's that.
As it stands, Wesker is in the study, ignoring the latest inconvenience from Retrospec; the static is a little annoying, but honestly? They've had infinitely worse, and it's generally just white noise to him by now. He's pleased to see Jaeger, however, and when he looks up from the notes he's going over on the couch he doesn't move to put his sunglasses back on - he's tempted, admittedly, but in the end he refrains.]
[After deciding to search for Cumore, Jaeger and Wesker have shown up at his estate. That's just what you do when your friend goes missing, right? Right. So, here we are!]
He really does have a lovely place, ja? Not nearly as nice as yours, though.
That said, Wesker will just kind of...look up at the place, because lord.]
I remember coming here for the new year. I'd been a few times before that, when I could be made to attend parties here and there... I met him at one of those, I didn't care for him much.
[After the excitement of the past several days ("excitement"), Jaeger is perfectly fine remaining in the manor and not leaving. The glitchy dogs are a familiar sort of terrible that he'd much rather deal with than heading outside and potentially dealing with... whatever the hell Retrospec's doing now. Sure, the new building is interesting, and sure there are some new and fascinating people running around, but Jaeger just wants to plan his wedding in peace, is that so much to ask??
Anyway, hanging out at home with Wesker is always nice, and as usual he's in the study. He's currently playing the one game his phone has on it (because of course they took away everything else) and looking sort of bored, but he'll be able to entertain himself until Wesker comes in.
There is something he wants to ask him about, after all. Now that things have settled a bit, he wants to know how Wesker's doing.]
[Wesker is likewise in "I am a simple person trying to plan a wedding" hell; he's doing his best to ignore Retrospec when it's going this far off the rails, and for now he's just...well, he's spending a lot of time in the basement and trying to not mind his dogs, though he'll come back upstairs eventually. He doesn't like the idea of leaving Jaeger alone for too long.
He'll find Jaeger in the study fairly easily, and he'll come sit down near him as he usually does. How is it going.]
[It's a damn good thing that everything's gone back to normal. Jaeger doesn't expect it to last for long, but for right now things are fine and he has spent almost entirely too long on his phone because goddamn he has missed his phone games. Leave him alone, okay.
Part of that is also because he figured Wesker would want time with his dogs, who are no longer glitching, clipping through the ground, or t-posing. But Wesker still hasn't come back in and Jaeger's getting lonely, so he grabs his coat and ventures out onto the deck.]
[Wesker is very grateful to have time to spend with his dogs - of course, he's glad that everything is more or less normal now as well, but the fact of the matter is that he's missed his dogs and he's glad that they're no longer bizarre abominations that are probably possessed by demons, and he's just going to be out there being absolutely crowded by dogs as a result. He hasn't spent much time with them lately, it seems they've missed him, they're kind of a swarm right now but he seems to have them more or less under control.]
...Well, it seems they don't have much to complain about, at any rate.
[Shuji arrives at the arranged time, this time sporting no wings, horns, sharp teeth, or other monstrous alterations. Not to mention he's in his right mind and doesn't want to infect anybody. Which is nice.
Have a doorbell ring, Wesker. This conversation probably won't be embarrassing, or at least not as embarrassing as yesterday.]
Edited (clarity the next day) 2018-11-02 10:31 (UTC)
[It's going to be super-embarrassing probably, but for different reasons than yesterday, he imagines. Either way, he's pretty sure he's going to be at least mildly mortified but he's got this. Absolutely. Yes.
That said, the door will open easily enough and just- ]
[After his last relationship, Jaeger had just sort of accepted that he wouldn't ever want to be with anyone seriously again, and he'd completely dismissed the idea of getting married. It wasn't that he didn't want it, it just didn't seem like something that could ever happen. It's amazing how much things can change.
He's officially married to Albert Wesker now.
It's still a bit of a strange idea - both being married in general and being married to someone he loves so dearly - but it's everything he's ever wanted and right now, he really couldn't be happier.
...Which is why he's spent the entire car ride home talking about a mile a minute about nothing in particular (he's jumped through at least three topics and ended up on "absolute disasters that have happened during family weddings") but at least he seems to be enjoying himself?
He'll actually shut up once while we head inside, and you've probably noticed by now that he's just sort of vibrating. A lot. He's a bit overstimulated, he'll probably calm down in a minute, but for right now he's just... kind of having a moment.]
[Wesker hasn't really been sure how to handle anything that's happened today - it's all felt a little surreal and strange and in some ways like it isn't even happening? But the fact of the matter is that it has, and he's content to just let Jaeger talk while he gets himself sorted, and once they get inside it's easy to lead Jaeger to that couch in the study where they tend to spend a lot of their time, because it seems like as appropriate a place to go as any.
He doesn't feel much nowadays, but once in a while things are good, and this feels...really good, honestly.
He'll take the sunglasses off as soon as he's settled, putting them down on the table next to the couch; he isn't altogether sure what to say, but Jaeger is vibrating and everyoe here is slightly overstimulated at best, so...]
[It really is a shame that the ghosts are gone. Sure, some people had trouble with them, but Jaeger didn't and Wesker got to see his father again. He knows Wesker's doing his best to be okay, but he imagines it does hurt and he's more than happy to come with Wesker to visit his father's grave.
He'll remain beside his husband, but for the time being he's silent. He's here, though, and he's certainly not going anywhere.]
[It's nice, honestly, that Jaeger will come here with him; it's a place he's used to going alone, and he'd done that for the first time since the ghosts left. But now...it's good to have someone beside him for the time being, even if he still doesn't really know what to do with any of this.]
...It still doesn't feel like much of anything.
[It's quiet, but it's still audible.]
It never really has. But now more than ever, I think.
[It probably isn't surprising that Jaeger arrives home fairly quickly after that last message; he's very curious to hear what Wesker's remembered that could possibly be worse than the leeches, after all. He also just wants to be home, both because he doesn't like being away from his husband for too long and because it's January, and January is going to suck. It won't be as bad as last year, of course, but it would be damn near impossible for it to be that bad.
Anyway, he arrives home and heads to the study immediately, are you in here?]
[Of course he is. He's currently got the sunglasses off as well, but that's solely because he's decided that today is a good day to mess with that damn Excalibur puzzle some more and it's easier to see what he's doing without them.
Granted, this means you also get to deal with the fact that his eyes are glowing slightly because this shit is frustrating. You did this to you.]
[It's the twentieth, which means Jaeger's another year older. He probably could be lamenting that fact as he always does, but he's had something else on his mind today.
It's been a year since he received the blastia from Retrospec, and at the end of this month, it'll be a year since Wesker died and came back as a zombie.
Jaeger's been distracted at work today, to the point where his employees have asked him if something's wrong. He's brushed them off of course - they don't remember Retrospec anymore, after all - and he's tried to keep his focus on work and off of... well, everything else. It's easier said than done, and by the end of the day he's still feeling kind of weird about the whole thing.
It's not necessarily bad, though. They've survived a whole year of this, and he's in a much better place than he was last year. He's pretty damn sure Wesker is too. So even though it's weird to think about... it's not too terrible.
He returns home a bit later than usual, but it shouldn't be late enough to be worrying. As always, he heads to the study first; are you in here?]
[Wesker's been in most of the day today - it's Sunday, after all, and thankfully he hasn't been called in to fix any sort of catastrophe at work, everything seems to be going well enough there; generally speaking, he's been spending a fair amount of time with the dogs today. He lives nearer to the outskirts of town, and the walls of flames have been dissipating but they're still not exactly comforting this close; the dogs are about as energetic as ever, though, flames or not, and they've seemed content spending time with him outside today if nothing else.
He'd told a few people on the network about his...physical circumstances, when he'd posted earlier this month; not in blunt terms, but in enough detail that he's fairly sure that some of them know. He still isn't really sure how he feels about telling people, but it hadn't been terrible, he supposes; it could have been worse.
He's had almost a year to get used to it, at any rate.
Either way, he's definitely back inside by the time Jaeger comes home that evening, and he's in the study as usual; he's noticed that Jaeger is slightly late, but he imagines that if the reason why is important, he'll likely be told...]
