...I'm worried about how you'll handle everything, I suppose? That's not to say I don't think you can handle it or anything silly like that, but I'm worried that...
[Oh, that's it, isn't it?]
I'm worried that it'll make it easier for you to avoid me if you really want to. And I know it wasn't intentional this time, but what if it happens again? It'll be a little harder for me to tarck you down if I'm not staying with you, ja?
[Now that he's admitted it, it sounds kind of pathetic...]
So you think I'll cut you off - that I'll decide I want to avoid or ignore you for some reason, while trying to take on something I can't handle by myself.
Is that it?
[...Just...trying to understand what the hell you're getting at here, Jaeger, give him a second.]
Mm... Yes, I suppose that's it. It's silly, isn't it? If anyone can handle what you've been stuck with, it's you. And there's no reason to think you will avoid or ignore me, intentional or otherwise.
[But he's worried anyway, and he can't really explain why.]
[It does and it doesn't; he isn't altogether sure how to articulate it, but he is grateful in some way that Jaeger is willing to do all of this for him.
Something is digging at him in the back of his mind, though - something about the memories he's been receiving, about the things he's done to people that have trusted him and wanted nothing but the best for him - and it takes him a moment to shake it off.]
...Either way. I'm not throwing you out, as I've said.
Then I'll stay for a bit longer, at least. That should help ease my worries, ja? You'll be just fine and I'll leave once I've gotten over these silly worries.
[And if he doesn't get over them in a few days then he'll... well, he'll try to convince himself he has. As much as he enjoys staying with Wesker (which is a lot, surprisingly, considering the dogs), he really can't stick around forever.]
[...And that would be more or less how they ended up on the streets of the city at some odd hour of the night, well before the late-night establishments close but after most people would be out and about; Wesker doesn't really have any criteria for where he would and wouldn't prefer to end up, short of "nowhere near the ocean" and "preferably not a bar." That latter one isn't due to concern that Jaeger will try to get him intoxicated enough to talk or do something stupid that he wouldn't normally, and more due to...well, it's a Monday, and he is not quite desperate enough to go drinking on a goddamn Monday.
But the city is nice at night, he supposes, and not having anywhere specific to be hasn't stopped him from parking in one of the city lots so they can just wander at their leisure for the time being.
So. Here they are.]
...I don't think I've ever done this properly, you know. Just been here at night with nowhere in particular to go.
[This is the sort of thing that Jaeger's always enjoyed. He used to spend his nights out like this back home in Germany, but he hasn't really done that in Recollé. It's sort of exciting to be doing this again, especially with Wesker.]
You've been missing out! You can find some of the most interesting shops if you look around, you know! That's how I became interested in running a store like mine, actually!

I'm fine! I'm fine, I promise.
[...]
I suppose I'm still a little worried about you, but I'm sure you'll tell me that everything will be fine, ja?
no subject
What are you worried about, exactly?
no subject
[Oh, that's it, isn't it?]

...I appreciate the concern, at any rate.
[That...seems as good a place as any to start?]
no subject
Well, I'm glad you do! The whole thing seems a bit ridiculous, really.

...If I'm having difficulties due to memories, I'll tell you as much, under the condition that you don't try to pry if I don't want to discuss it.
[...]
This extends to trying to ply me with alcohol, by the way.
no subject
Hey, I've been good about that lately, haven't I?
[He holds up his hands in surrender and laughs though.]
It's a promise. Just make sure to hold up your end and don't make me seek you out, ja?
no subject
[It's calmer than he has been for the past while, however; this is...good, it's a good agreement to come to.]
no subject
[Yes, this is definitely a good agreement to come to.]
no subject
Perhaps we should go out, as you'd suggested. Not now, but tonight.
no subject
no subject
Right now I'd settle for "anywhere not on this property, preferably not involving the beach."
[HE IS SO FUCKING SICK OF THE OCEAN.]
no subject
I certainly don't blame you! We can avoid the beach! Let's just go out and see what catches our interest; I'm sure something will!
no subject
[No, really, he usually prefers to have a plan? But not having one tonight sounds fine by him, for some reason he can't really place.]
no subject
Excellent! I'm looking forward to it!

[You know, it's not terribly often that Jaeger just volunteers information like that; it's interesting, at any rate.]
no subject
[Consider yourself lucky for getting even this much out of him!!]
no subject
[It's not as backhanded as the wording would imply; it's just not something he'd ever considered.]
no subject
[Oh come on, Wesker, his shop is adorable.]
