That gets him to go quiet rather abruptly, and it takes him a moment to realize that he's just kind of stopped walking altogether; he shakes his head as though trying to clear it, but it doesn't get him very far.]

[His kneejerk response is to say that everything is fine, but apparently that's the sort of thing that just makes Jaeger worry and try harder to press eventually - maybe not right this second, but it's going to come up again and it's better to just get it over with now when he has some control over how it happens - ]

The past few things I've remembered have involved treating people who decide to trust me very badly. To put it gently.

The circumstances are different, obviously. It's going to be fine. It just...struck me strangely, that's all.

[There are a multitude of things that could be said to that - that Jaeger doesn't know any of that for sure, that there was often no reason why he killed or backstabbed anyone as far as he could discern, that he's had the sound of that woman crying out for him stuck in his head for the past two days - but in the end he doesn't say any of it; he just...breathes a bit, and tries to settle, and he focuses on the words rather than on the lack of context that went into voicing them.

It will be fine. He wouldn't do anything like that. He knows.]

I really don't think there's any reason to worry. You know how much I hated what happened back in Germany; if I had any reason to think you'd betray me like that, I wouldn't still be here. But you're not like that and I'm not worried about it.

...I told you once about the woman I was dating. Excella. She was in love with me, while I saw our arrangement as strictly business. She's been in my memories often lately.

She was the other person I remembered killing.
