That's lovely! It must be so nostalgic, to have them with you. I can't wait to see them, and the herbs!
[honestly do you like. have some sort of secret greenhouse in your apartment-]
no subject
[He's still looking at things, don't worry.]
Whereas the flowers are from the place I was living last, before I was brought here. They only grow in one specific place in Africa.
no subject
(while observing some rather fluffy blankets.)]
They sound absolutely incredible! Now I'm interested from both a scientific perspective and a curiosity perspective. Do the flowers have similar properties?
no subject
[He says it casually, though; it doesn't seem to be anything that's troubling him too much.
...Those sure are some blankets you're observing...]
It's good to have them here, at least.
no subject
I can't say I'm too surprised to hear they serve a purpose.
[you know what he's just going to bury his hands in this blanket-oh it's so soft-]
As pretty as they are, you've never struck me as the sort to obtain something purely for ornamentation.
no subject
[So yeah.]
I kept a few things close to me for a while, just for the sake of having them. But not many.
no subject
[Right, blanket assessed and deemed satisfactory; he'll turn back to face Wesker so they can talk properly.]
You don't seem to have very strong opinions on many things. I don't mean that as a criticism - nothing wrong with not being materialistic - but it's something I have noticed.
no subject
The visible response is brief; just the same, it seems to have struck him weirdly for whatever reason, and his words are brisk when he replies.]
This is the longest I've been in any one place recently. The places I live are temporary, as are the things I put in them; if I can't clear out wherever I'm living in half an hour, then I have too many belongings, and they're too spread out.
[He's aware, in some way, of how paranoid that sounds - it's either paranoid or depressing, and either interpretation doesn't reflect particularly well. But it's easier to just state it straight-out than it is to even begin to get into why things might be that way.]
My opinions are generally reserved for things that matter. That's all.
no subject
Shifting the blanket to under one of his arms, Sycamore tilts his head in gentle curiosity.]
I had no idea the life of a virologist was so transient.
[There's no judgement or sarcasm behind that comment, and while he considers adding to it, Sycamore decides to wait for Wesker to respond. If he wants to elaborate, he's been given room to, but if he would prefer to change the subject...well, Sycamore is not going to insist.
But it's interesting; this is the most discomfort - emotion, really - he's seen from the man since they first met.]
no subject
[He doesn't quite seem to know what to do with himself; it's something he's thought about often over the past three years, though nothing he really intends to discuss too deeply right now for varying reasons.]
I won't pretend that my life has been easy. It isn't a story I tell in public, if I tell it at all, and it isn't one you're going to like hearing simply because of the sort of person you are.
no subject
[And he does, really; at least, in the sense that we all tend to have painful stories we'd prefer not to disclose.]
You can tell me in your own time, if at all, Wesker. I would never force you to relive things you'd rather keep buried.
[Reaching over to a nearby display, Sycamore picks up another pot, this one small and a deep navy colour.]
I'm happy to continue to distract you, however, if that's something you want. Or we can leave. Whichever you like; I'm not fussed.
no subject
[So there's that, and for what it's worth that does sound genuine.
...That said, there are some more plants over here and while he isn't opposed to the leafy things (the succulents are still a bit too cute for his tastes) there are spider plants. There are things you hang from the ceiling and their purpose in life is to be not to everyone's tastes and he will be wanting one of these, my god.]
We can get a few more of these sorts of things, and then you can come tell me how much more I'll have to do before the apartment isn't completely hopeless. And give your opinion on the flowers, I suppose.
no subject
(...for the...kind of vaguely creepy and tentacle-y, but you know what, he's not going to argue it.)]
Well, you can certainly depend on me to point out how much more work your apartment needs. But this is a fantastic first step.
[Come on, let's choose some spider plants.]
I'm actually quite looking forward to seeing these flowers, you know. Have I chosen enough suitably cute pots for them and your herbs?
no subject
You're not moving the flowers. I would prefer that they not be disturbed, given their purpose.
[...Anyway.]
The herbs can be put in what was chosen for them, however.
no subject
[They're going all over the apartment.
...or at least like. out of the room you've got them stuffed into. Why are we even worrying about plants when you seem to have a whole greenhouse hidden away, Wesker? Do you have more décor stashed away in the cupboards? Will your mysteries ever cease...]
It sounds like you're well stocked up on plants, anyway. All the more reason for us to look in another section, no?
[...he might be nodding his head towards the candle aisle. The scented candle aisle.
...come on, you know you want to smell some candles with him. It'll be fun!]
no subject
...That actually seems promising, so I can't say I'm going to fight you any.
[Candles are apparently okay. Candles are more than okay, let's go look at those even if it's going to smell weird as hell over here.]
At least I know whatever you pick out isn't going to bore me.
[like so help him god at least you won't shove, like. fucking sandalwood in his face or something.]
no subject
[He will absolutely not shove sandalwood in your face!
...although if you would like to purchase a suitably-attractive candle that happens to be sandalwood, he will not dissuade you. As it stands, he's picked up two after giving them a quick test; one creamy violet, the other a vibrant green.]
Don't you think it would be nice to add a bit of scent to your apartment? Candles also make for fantastic mood lighting! [yes, that included a suitably over-the-top wink.] Now, what kind would you prefer? This purple one is lavender, which is known for its calming abilities! This green one, however, is coconut and lime - very fruity and intense, even though I don't know what either of them are!
What do you think? Gentle scent or strong scent?
no subject
That said, let him check the...things...that you are putting in his face, good lord that's- ]
I prefer the intense things, I think. I know candles are usually for either relaxation or being obnoxiously dramatic, but I'm assuming I'm not going to be some sort of Victorian vampire and I'll be using them for neither.
no subject
Oh, intense, is it? Exciting! We're getting the green one then.
[Into the basket it goes! Sycamore will neatly put the lavender candle back on the shelf, before picking up a creamy white one with a....cupcake on the label?]
Oh, I'm definitely getting this.
[...into the basket it goes. No questions, please.
Now!]
So if it's intense scents you're after....ah!
[The next one he selects is bright orange, and he (somewhat gleefully) holds it up for Wesker to investigate.]
What about cinnamon?
no subject
again]
Really not doing anything halfway, are we.
[He seems amused, though; he'll take the cinnamon, consider it for a moment.
...Puts it in the damn basket because why not.]
no subject
(The temptation to clap his hands excitedly was definitely there, but...well, the basket. No sense in dropping all their new candles!)]
Of course not! I am not known for my subtly, mon ami. But that's just part of my charm.
[Now, you've got two candles, and all good things come in threes, so! Let's pick one more. We've got Coconut and Lime, Cinnamon....and....oh. Oh. Oh this one is parfait-]
Here. This can round out your little trilogy.
[The candle he's chosen is pitch black, as is the label; the text on it, in holographic purple letters reads 'Black Cherry'.]
no subject
You're either teasing me or being remarkably thoughtful, and I find it difficult to tell which it is, although I suspect it's both. Well done, either way.
no subject
[The compliment won't do anything to stop him beaming at you, you know...]
Now that that's sorted, were there any more sections you wanted to look at?
no subject
no subject
[Yes, yes, he will let you drag him from this store (once all their purchases are paid for)! They have a lot of bags, and Sycamore is...satisfied. A successful trip, indeed!]
See! That wasn't so hard, was it?
