We worked for a corporation that created things that were to be used in combat situations; even this was only to be used in the event of an orchestrated incident. It was more likely that he was trying to weaponize it, somehow.
[ . . . Well there goes any sort of loose optimism. She bites her cheek, glancing away a moment and resists whatever odd urge she has to point out how human that is. That reflex, more and more, persists for her. It's frustrating. ]
Orchestrated - so what, they intended to make a zombie terrorist attack on some population?
I think what he was referring to there was more along the lines of "you're going to use this for a specific purpose" and he was being needlessly grandiose - or at least, that's what I'm going to assume for the sake of my faith in humanity at the moment.
...I don't know. There's still a large amount that I don't know about it... It doesn't seem to have affected Jaeger any, though admittedly I've entirely avoided physical contact with him.
[ That's an incredible risk she can't help but think but - no, no, that's fair. Entirely isolating Albert for this would be cruel and what's more she trusts the man to be cautious where it counts. She exhales and, ]
Right, of course. It's something we'll have to study more then, then.
For what it's worth, I've remembered touching people after infection without any adverse effects, and I was living with Excella for a while then as well - we weren't intimate, to my knowledge, I didn't like her touching me, but she had been in close proximity to me for years without falling ill herself. She was also in a position to come in contact with things contaminated with my blood, and she seemed to be fine.
[So at least there's that.]
I wouldn't risk his life like that if I didn't believe that having him here would be safe, nor would I risk yours by asking you to be here now.
- Oh, oh heavens no, I'm not doubting that at all, Albert! I know you wouldn't put a risk on us to the best of your knowledge. In fact no, not even that loose, you would have wanted to make sure as best you were able.
[ It's more... ]
It's more I'm thinking about the future, that's all. The parameters of it being understood better would allow us to make your life easier, wouldn't it?
[ Because if he had to be isolated at any point....? And also even what he just said didn't answer for it being intimate with Jaeger is a risk or not. The contaminated blood is probably more risky than anything like that so it's probably safe-ish but...? ]
-- Oh. Oh, right, no, of course I- that was me jumping ahead.
[ Wesker's always liked rationality, and so she sort of fell into that mode in order to try to calm her own racing heart and her mind going a million ways at once. And now, finally, she lurches forward to take his hands. ]
I'm sorry, Albert. That's... you didn't deserve this.
[He's not sure whether it's the attempt at contact or the words that strike him wrong first; he pulls back before she can take his hands, the movement fluid but abrupt, and he's shaking his head a bit before he responds properly, agitated.]
I still don't see how any of you can say that.
[He doesn't like it, he doesn't want this, but he's still fairly sure it's deserved.]
[ It's really just... that simple, really. But okay, if he won't allow it she'll take her hands back, maybe only slightly put out. Really though, her eyes too betray her, they ended up in cat mode as a result of that moment. ]
[ And she... actually laughs at that. She's not sure how much of that is tension and how much of it is that being genuinely amusing, but she does laughing, eventually leaning back, throwing her head back in the chair a little as the chuckles die off. ]
That's true! It would be bad if I could be thrown off by something like that!
I'm sure he would. [ Still, that's... honestly, to think that the two of them discuss this (of course they did) she feels a sudden sympathy for Jaeger. Man that's got to suck.
Oh well... ]
Actually though if it only happened yesterday, do you need someone to examine you for injuries?
[ Apart from the whole... dead thing... ] Or does it compensate for that?
That's actually one of the benefits to being like this that I've seen - my body's ability to regenerate and heal itself has been greatly enhanced, if I even manage to be injured in the first place.
Apparently it's rather difficult to kill that which is already dead.
[And that's...dry, but not particularly troubled-seeming.]
The injury that killed me healed itself in a matter of minutes; I've also discovered that I can withstand gunshots with no actual significant injury or damage, short of some pain from the percussive impact.
[...He figured that last one out exactly as one would expect he did.]
Because I suspected it would be fine. Even if it wasn't, the worst that would happen would be dying again, and somehow that doesn't seem as daunting the second time..

[ But at what cost? To have died and.... Mm. ]

[He knows for a fact that it wasn't, honestly.]

[It's just...]
I'm not interested in refusing to find answers; this is just a bit...much, for the time being.
[He still doesn't know what to do with any of this, if he should be doing anything at all; it's...]
I'll...come up with something, I'm sure. But for the time being, I... This only happened yesterday.

[He tends to argue what he deserves and what he doesn't with Jaeger a lot, it tends to upset him, Wesker still doesn't entirely understand why.
Just the same, though...]
Perhaps I wouldn't mind that outcome, either, in the end.
[Because what he wants and what he believes he deserves are two separate matters.]
