I did tell you that I don't mind the physical transformations as much, didn't I? [He sounds more amused than anything, though.] I'm more than well enough; I'm not sure why it's decided to look like this, entirely, but it isn't anything I'm going to complain about.
no subject
Well, I must admit, once you get over the initial surprise it's certainly quite intriguing to look at.
[...you know what, now that he is looking at Wesker's eyes...there's something niggling at the back of his mind...
...ah. Of course. It's the first time he's seeing them.]
First this transformation, and no sunglasses? Are you sure you're really Albert Wesker?
[Sycamore's voice is, of course, also light, and he's sounding far more like his usual self. This is all...certainly something, isn't it.]
no subject
[Again, though, it's just as easy.]
I at least have some vague idea of why it chose to do that to my face; I have some scarring on the left side that's usually unnoticeable.
[He'll gesture a bit, either way; are you going to sit down, or...]
no subject
...he won't be taking his eyes off all of the. the Iris-ness while he does so, so he may have to try one or two times to actually grab the damn thing, which will hopefully be vaguely endearing and not utterly stupid.]
I see, I see! So it is taking your body into account...
[Now that he's becoming more comfortable with the sight, Sycamore can feel his apprehension disappearing and his natural curiosity firing up with a vengeance; he'll start to unconsciously drum his fingers against the tabletop, watching as the tentacles slide their way across those multiple hearts. Incredible...]
...speaking of which, can you control them? The tentacles, I mean. Is it like having many, many extra limbs? Or do they have a mind of their own?
[...he will apologise for all the questions once he realises what he's doing...]
no subject
He isn't entirely sure what he expected, but in hindsight it probably should have been something closer to this; god knows he would have asked Birkin these kinds of things if he'd thought him capable of answering them, or Sergei if Sergei hadn't decided he was solidly no longer fucking around.
So it's not like he holds the questioning against Sycamore at all; only natural to ask, as far as he's concerned.]
I hesitate to say that it's instinct - that hardly seems the right word when it's referring to control over appendages that I normally wouldn't have. But it isn't something that I have to consciously think about most of the time, in much the same way that you don't have to actively consider the process of walking while you're in the middle of doing it. It's very natural, and highly intuitive; they do what I want them to, whether I'm actually thinking very deeply about it or not.
Although I will admit that occasionally I want to do something, and some part of my brain has other ideas. But that isn't very frequent nowadays.

[Sycamore can't say that he'd like to grow a set of these himself, but observing the changes from across the table is more than fine (and again, only so because Wesker seems so comfortable with all of this - it would be a different story if he were distressed. As it stands, though....)]
I've had other Iris friends obtain these 'jellyfish' - I believe that's the correct word? - appendages, but never to this extent. A bit of skin discolouration is usually the most they experience.
[He'll fall silent after that, looking pensive; after a moment, he extends an arm; not completely across the table, but within reach.]
So if you wanted to, you could use them to take my hand? As if reaching out with your real arm?
no subject
[He's definitely following what Sycamore is doing physically, tracking with his eyes at least.]
Are you asking me to?
no subject
Yes! If you don't mind giving me a demonstration. We can trade - I'll make these ears flick for you in exchange.
[He is...joking...(although they really can flick, it's very exciting, albeit not 'tentacles everywhere' exciting....)]
no subject
[The movement isn't anything overly fast; it's definitely something that can be followed and easily so, though there isn't anything hesitant about it, either - one of those tentacles unwraps itself from where it's been coiling around his arm, extending in Sycamore's general direction and sliding across and into his hand. Not wrapping around, that seems a bit odd and he's not really interested in straight-up grabbing him, which would be the equivalent, but definitely enough to get the message across that he could if he wanted to.
...It's cold, and more than slightly clammy to the touch, but not the worst of things, all things considered.]
no subject
Woah...incroyable! You control it so well!
[The clamminess is, admittedly, vaguely off-putting, but not overly unpleasant; certainly not enough to encourage him to move his hand away. Without applying any sort of grip (that feels somewhat rude, without asking first, Sycamore gently bends his fingers enough so that the tips of them press against the tentacle's skin, feeling out how firm it is.]
This is so fascinating, Wesker...tell me, can you feel my fingers? Do you get feedback from it?
no subject
I can, yes. I can't tell whether it's an appropriate or normal amount, however. My nerves haven't worked the way yours do for some time now, I tend to experience less physical sensations than most.
[It's perfectly straightforward, though - a blunt fact rather than anything he has too many feelings about.]
no subject
[Well, judging by Wesker's delivery that fact probably wasn't stated for sympathy, so Sycamore won't be condescending and give him any; instead, he'll continue focusing on the tentacle. Mildly springy, yes...interesting...]
Well, feedback is feedback! It's so fascinating, though; I probably shouldn't be surprised, since I experience sensations with these ears of mine, but this is on a different level! To think we can receive transformations of such a magnitude...
[...he still privately hopes he won't get this one, but it's fascinating nonetheless.]
Thank you for indulging all these questions, however. I swear, I'm not trying to turn you into my next research project!
no subject
[Do at least there's that.]
It's something that I've been fascinated with since it begin happening to me; the more drastic transformations like this in particular have been of great interest to me. I imagine you're asking through similar curiosity.
no subject
[Is this what Iris does to you, the longer you stay in Prismatica? Perish the thought...
Either way, Sycamore seems quite content with continuing his examinations for now, gently tilting his hand back and forth. There's some weight to this tentacle; how fast can Wesker move it? If he's able to get a decent amount of speed going, he could likely do some damage...perhaps it doubles as a defence mechanism? So many questions, so little time...]
Have you seen any other dramatic transformations, as you call them?
no subject
[...That month was an adventure for everyone.]
Moonlacing at the moment would be a terrible idea on your end, incidentally. Not due to any loss of physical control on my part, but because I tend to siphon a great deal of Chroma from my partners. The individual I was just telling you about is the only one I've found so far that that doesn't happen with.
no subject
[Now this is new!]
But isn't moonlacing supposed to be beneficial for both parties? Are you saying that, when you're like this, only you get the benefit of it? Or do you basically get double the normal amount, if you're 'siphoning', as you said?
no subject
no subject
[Does this mean he should be letting go of this tentacle? He's not feeling any adverse effects...but maybe it's only a matter of time? Hmmm.]
And it's only when you're like this, that it happens?
no subject
[Again, it's something that he seems calm about; minimalist apartment or not, it isn't as though he's hurting at all for Chroma, so it isn't like he's having difficulties as a result of it.]
Don't concern yourself with it too much; it's working out well enough for me, as long as it's something I'm aware of.
no subject
[Gently placing that tentacle on the table, Sycamore leans back in his chair, raising a hand to his mouth and giving Wesker a pensive look.]
It's almost as if there's something about this particular transformation that's...advanced, somehow, both due to the extent of it and the additional effects. I certainly haven't experienced chroma-siphoning with any of my moonlacing partners, and I've only had minor changes to my body.
[Ah, how confusing...]
Just when I think I've got my head around this place, it throws a curveball!
no subject
[The tentacle on the table withdraws, easily and smoothly, to rejoin the others in their gently writhing mass; he doesn't seem to be paying it much mind.]
It's something that I'm keeping an eye on, at any rate.
no subject
...oh, right, we're talking, aren't we-]
I've actually been doing a bit of research on the moon-blessings myself, so this is all incredibly interesting. Will you keep me posted, on the changes and abilities you notice? Again, not that I'm trying to turn you into a research project, but...well. This is far more fun than my-
[-and he'll twitch them, as promised-]
-ears!
no subject
I don't know, I think the milder changes are interesting in their own right. I always end up wondering how functional they are.
[Like, can you hear out of those, or...]
And trust me, I would tell you if I believed you were interested in making a research project out of me. It's not something I'd tolerate very well... But if it's just personal curiosity, I'm certainly not one to deny it.
no subject
...he definitely didn't put a pair of headphones on them, alright]
I suppose it helps that you are a fellow scientist, no? You understand how intoxicating the curiosity can be!
[That's delivered with a grin; science! So much science! Ah, how wonderful it is, to find a new topic and be utterly enthralled by it...Wesker's comments are definitely noted, however; not that he wouldn't ask, but Sycamore is definitely glad that he's done so.]
But you don't have to worry about me, mon ami. I would hate to make you uncomfortable. Especially not when we are getting along so well, hmm?
no subject
Yes, of course. Though with transformations like these, I believe it's only natural to be curious about them - my world is a bit different with regards to people turning into things that they weren't before, but usually it's voluntary, with the person retaining some degree of control over what they become. It's not quite like it is here, where I'm not certain there's a pattern.
[Not...counting the zombies, but they didn't really transform into anything. They just kind of died, got back up and kept on going. But Sergei was certainly voluntary, as were Krauser and Saddler and Alexia; granted, Birkin was...he has no idea what Birkin was, but he was sort of an outlier in several ways.]
