There are a few things in that that catch his attention. The past tense, the odd flicker of emotion there, the deftness with which the subject is changed. A conversation they've had before; an incident regarding strife on a grand scale.

His own expression doesn't change, though he does tip his head a bit; he doesn't press.]

I'm far easier to please than most would expect. Though perhaps I'll bring something by sometime, if you're curious as to what my owns tastes look like.

I'll admit it's been some time since I've been, however; I'm not twenty anymore, and I certainly don't drink as though I am. But I always do enjoy it somewhat more when I have someone else to go with.

Don't worry, mon ami, I know how you feel! These days it feels like if I have more than three drinks, I can guarantee I'll wake up tomorrow feeling every one of my thirty six years. Terrible, really!

Thirty-six, really. I was around that when I first started going out to bars properly, though I admit my upbringing was a bit sheltered.

I don't age in the same way that most humans do. Trust me, however, I'll take the compliment.

The most I've given anyone here by way of an explanation is that I used to be human, but I'm not anymore. Anything else is nothing I'm going to give away without a proper date at least.

[It's airy, not quite dismissive but definitely flippant; the sort of thing that definitely gives off the impression that he doesn't find whatever brought that answer into being to be a negative thing.]

[Well, that was a roller-coaster of a pair of sentences! Despite his shock, Sycamore can't help but laugh.]

If that's the sort of secret you give away without a date, I can't wait to see what you'll tell me after some wining and dining!

But that does explain the youthful appearance, and I'm rather flattered you trust me with that information. Knowing me, I would have happily bought that you've just invested in some excellent skincare products.

[Because while he genius may sometimes astound him, his naiveté does as well....]

I hardly see any reason to lie about what I've mentioned, especially given where we are and the sorts that tend to populate it.

But if you're going to pursue, I won't discourage you. I can't guarantee you'll get any terribly rewarding information out of it, but you never know.

You clearly underestimate how convincing I can be.

He can't explain it, but the information is less jarring than it would be from anyone else.]
