Apparently a pharmaceutical company was manufacturing bioweapons on the side. The viruses leaked and infected a nearby city, and it more or less went downhill from there.

That was about eleven years ago. It's currently March of 2009, where I'm from.

Yikes, that sounds horrible. So this company somehow managed to make a virus that could turn people into zombies? I mean I guess that could be used as a weapon, but it doesn't seem like a very practical one...

Not quite - in the end, the virus wasn't the weapon. The zombies were the weapon.

It would completely change how wars are fought. Imagine fighting against a nation whose army simply can't die - that was the sort of application they were going for.

Oh, so they wanted to basically turn an army of zombies loose on unsuspecting countries? I guess I can get that, no one would know how to fight something like that and it'd definitely mess the place up, if not lead to outright collapse. Still, that's really messed up...

My time here has been...acceptable, I suppose. It isn't terrible, but it isn't anything I prefer, either. I'm not entirely accustomed to the way things are done here, but I've been adapting well enough.

Yeah, I doubt anyone could really adapt to all of this easily! There's a lot of weird stuff to get used to here.

The moon cycles are somewhat inconvenient, but not the worst in the world. Everything else affects you about as much as you allow it - one gets used to avoiding the unpleasant things.

That's true. I haven't really found any of it bad so far, but it sounds like I got really lucky with my first moon cycle.

Iris, and I've heard from multiple people that it can be really bad.

Perhaps. It's never been as terrible as they claim for me.

It hasn't been terrible. It's mostly the personality shifts that are the most difficult for me to deal with, but even those have shifted into something more tolerable.
