I was trying to draw out a pair of people that I was after. Alexia and Alfred Ashford. I wanted their research, and apparently Alexia wasn't as dead as we had believed. So i went after her, imagining that even if I couldn't get her attention directly she wouldn't be pleased with someone attacking her brother, who was on the island at the time.
...Birkin wasn't fond of her, incidentally. Alexia. He was dead by the time I went after her, but I imagine he would have found some satisfaction in it.
...I don't know. My memories dont seem chronological from there... I know I stole the corpse of a young man infected with the virus I was after, and some time after that Chris was there - that was the fight in which I lost one of my eyes.
I know I fought Chris' sister at one point as well, though I don't know if that was connected to the same incident. I admit I don't remember her very well, either.
There isn't much to recall, as it wasn't a very long fight; she was utterly outclassed and I wanted to kill her, and I very nearly did. However, I was informed that Chris was trying to come after her, and so I kept her alive so I could torture her in front of him later.
[...He seems incredibly clinical about this, despite his words.]
...I can't say for certain, because my thoughts on the matter were always very disjointed and I don't remember everything that happened in great detail or clarity. But if I had to guess, I'd say it likely had to do with not taking my sudden loss of humanity well, at least in part.
[...He hasn't really discussed this with Jaeger very much, has he?]
When I died for the first time back then, it was as part of a plan to escape and bring down Umbrella; that portion of things was only to be enacted if it became absolutely necessary. Due to Chris' interference...well, it very quickly became necessary. I allowed myself to die in order to ensure the completion of my plans, but... Let's say they didn't come to fruition, likewise because of Chris.
I was able to salvage it later, granted. But he took away my guarantee at leaving the corporation, and it's because of him that my body became like this at all. The first several months of it were difficult for me, even if I did eventually come to prefer living this way; I don't think the loss of humanity was ever something I fully adjusted to.
I think I can understand that. Having your plans ruined would be enough to be irritated at someone, and given what you were trying to do... I can certainly understand how that could lead to resentment. The loss of humanity certainly makes it easier to see why you'd hate Chris.
[It sounds complicated, but that at least makes sense to him.]
...I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. Even though you adapted to it... I imagine it was still somewhat difficult to handle.
[And that's not even touching how bad it is for Wesker now.]
The situation with Chris was...complicated. I hated him completely, but that never did change the fact that he was the best man I had on the force, and he was rather shamelessly my favorite before then. Even after the fact, I praised him often; I think I still found him important, in my own way. I liked it when he would pursue, at any rate, even if ideally those enounters would have ended with him dead.
[...It's weird.]
Even so, I did seem to enjoy the powers that came with it. The rest followed eventually.
[He reaches up to toy with his bangs for a moment. This topic is always difficult and he's not sure if Wesker wants to actually talk about it or move on to something else.]
I'll always be here if you want to talk about it. We don't have to discuss it at all, if you'd prefer not to. And of course I'll always be happy to remind you how much you mean to me, if it'll help any.

Dare I ask why you firebombed it...?

[He sounds amused, though.]
What sort of research were they doing?

[...You know what, sure.]

[He's not even surprised anymore...]
I suppose that must have been interesting to remember...

[...AS ONE DOES???]

...Well, I honestly can't say I'm surprised by that reaction...

So she tried to set me on fire and I punched her.
[...his past life was an experience.]

But I'm not sure how one led into another.

[Your life was so weird. So weird.]

[Did you fight the rest of his family too?? Wesker, please.]
I'm sure you'll remember more about that in time, though.

[What do you say to something like that?]
...Why did you hate Chris so much?

[Most people probably wouldn't...]
But I think I can understand enjoying the powers you received. Everything you've shown me has been incredible.
[He's a tiny bit jealous, honestly.]

It shouldn't bother me to talk about it, if you ever want to. It's difficult, but discussion shouldn't upset me.
