Do you know what the antibodies had caused before?
[ Wesker can probably tell that Lucian has some physical differences from the common man, such as not breathing when he isn't talking. But that's subtle. ]
[And that much is entirely honest; he doesn't recall anything ever being specified along those lines.]
Apparently I was experimented on in some way as a child, but I don't have many details in that regard, and from what I understand it was mostly mental conditioning besides.
[...So, like. There was brainwashing? A lot of brainwashing.]
[ He's wasted no time in catching up with his other friends and proteges, so there's at least some information they can discuss. ]
What I've heard is that this place isn't truly a simulation, but a reconstruction. Something about lost worlds and how they can be preserved if someone survived from there to remember it. Those someones... being us.
[ Recolle being an asylum, a shelter. But that depends on if they buy the explanation in the first place. ]
...I've heard that as well, yes. And if that's true, an extremely poor choice was made in allowing whomever I used to be to survive.
[He has remembered some things that make that much incredibly clear. Probably the only worse choice for reconstructing the world would have been Oswell "Let's Brainwash And Murder Children" Spencer, as far as he knows, and that isn't so much setting the bar as it is laying it on the ground and hoping you don't trip when you step over.]
That's as fair an assumption to make as any, I suppose.
[There are a few issues he has with that stance, if he's going to be entirely honest with himself - it's one that he wants to believe, surely, but at the same time the fact that all of this is being phrased as "reconstruction", including the parts pertaining to themselves, as well as the fact that as far as he can tell there was some sort of personality shift between some of his memories and the others and he doesn't know why -
Well, it's disconcerting, to put it gently.]
I've no interest in such things, anyway. Becoming that sort of person.
[ While Lucian has heard and guessed that some people developed differently from their other selves, the same could not be said for his own experience. Willingly or not, he had found himself backsliding into Lord Light's mentality. He lacked the deity's millennial-long wisdom, but the carefulness and lack of emotion had slowly took hold.
He can only hope others are different. ]
Do you feel yourself starting to become that past? If not, I would think you would be safe from it for the time being.
[ The man leans back, choosing to let out the slightest of sighs ]
They can't possibly expect us to assume our old roles.
...It's difficult to say whether I do or not. It doesn't strike me as the sort of thing that would happen all at once, simply due to the nature of it; I can't say for certain whether it's something I can really know until it's already happened.
[Which is...frustrating, really, but so it goes.]
Do you find your own previous role to be distasteful, or...?

it's a good question
one for another day, sure, but that is definitely a good question]
That's what I'm thinking at this point, yes - a case of the latter.

I can help in monitoring your health. I also work with the hospital, so advanced equipment would not be impossible to borrow for our use.

[...So that...sort of explains that.]
I wouldn't turn down assistance, however.

Let me know what I can do for you. I specialize in haematology, but I also have experience in other areas.

I've heard a few things, but I haven't spoken to them extensively.

But you will not be whomever you were in the past.
[ At least, that is something Lucian can be sure of. ]
This life that was made, it is your own now.

Or at least, that was what his old self might have said. Lucian pushes away the thought, looking up. ]
Difficult.
[ One who judged with omniscient wisdom, a burden far too heavy. ]
It would be impossible for me to assume my old role. One of the prerequisites was wisdom far beyond a human's lifetime.
