There was a woman we knew who always had such an elaborate setup in front of her house. A lot of things that lit up, and fancy decorations laid out on a table surrounding all the candy. It was always themed, too - sometimes skeletons, sometimes ghosts and the like, sometimes monsters from those old movies. Things that would get a child's attention, to be looked at and played with.

Once your attention was there, she or her daughter would sneak up and tap you on the shoulder. Just a gentle thing, but more than enough to ensure that you jumped half a mild.
