Normally I'd suggest the Inkwell, but maybe a public bar isn't the best place to complain about our past selves, people will think we're weirder than we actually are.

Thursday works for me. I'm not too picky about alcohol, but don't feel like you have to break out the good stuff. I can't see myself swirling a glass of wine and saying 'Ah, the sweet aftertaste of this wine reminds me of my past self flattering people who already obviously know he hates them.'

Believe it or not, I don't have much preference, either. I usually only drink at others' behest.

[And so around six Thursday evening, Shuji rings Wesker's doorbell. Hi, he's here to complain and also drink.]

[And you know what, he is also here for complaining and drinking despite the fact that my brain was not here for anything for like the past two weeks, hello. The study is usually where he goes for such things, because he gets wasted like a classy person, and as such he'll bring Shuji back there easily once he's inside. Just...sit somewhere, it's nice and free of dogs that are going to maul you. Everybody wins, clearly.]

Hopefully things haven't been too aggressively surreal for you since we last spoke.

[If the study has books he's absolutely going to take a look at them later, but for now Shuji just has a seat.]

Nothing especially weird this week, thankfully. Just a lot of misdirected texts. Which, sure that's annoying, but the kind of technical difficulty I'd expect from my social media, not 'technical difficulty, we've lost control of reality'.

It's almost a welcome sort of malfunction, isn't it, given the last one.

[Like, seriously, he will take the minor annoyance over the sheer goddamn amount of YO HO that went into the entirety of last month.]

If those are my only choices, I'll take malfunctioning texts over the threat of being killed any day.

...Which just puts how sad this situation is in sharper relief, I think, that this feels like everything is perfectly fine.

It's come to my attention a few times that there's not much returning to the status quo after this, short of being removed from the group of us with the app in the first place. Given the choice, howeer, I'd prefer to deal with the abnormalities than be blissfully unaware of them.

Same. As much of a pain as this is, at least I know what horses are and that blue and green are real colors. I'll trade the inconvenience for not being in the middle of the uncanny valley.

It also strikes me as...inherently more dangerous to be like that, I believe - they seemed to be having difficulties processing the notion that monster attacks on the city was abnormal, for example. Accepting something like that seems like it wouldn't lead anywhere positive.

That depends. I mean, there are places where they have huge hurricanes all the time, and the people there think of those as normal and still prepare for them alright. But heavy snowfall in South Carolina will cause a lot of damage because they aren't used to that there.

Mass hysteria is the natural response to sudden monster attacks. I think 'business as usual' is probably a little safer.
