I really do believe it's impossible to become exactly the same person. Our experiences in this life have shaped us in different ways, and becoming a copy of who we once were just isn't possible.

It's more that I'm worried about the possibility of picking up some of my past life's more negative traits. I'm worried that someday I'll reach a point where I decide that not feeling anything would be for the best. I don't know if I'd have the same amount of success - if you can really call it that - as my past life did, but it's something that I did do back then, and I'd hate to decide to do something like that again.

Thankfully, I don't have any reason to do anything like that now. I'm very happy with you, and I'm happy with the way things are, despite Retrospec. I don't want you to think that this is something that's constantly on my mind, because it isn't.

It's just something I think about from time to time, I suppose.

I was wondering what these were for! This sounds wonderful!

[He'll shift a little so he has enough space to look through it, though he's certainly not going far. So, what's in this first album?]

[The photographs all seem to be fairly old; several of the first few depict a child that you'll...likely find very familiar, given that you've just recently seen him during the entire dream diving fiasco. He's blond and blue-eyed, and he looks to be about eight or nine; in a couple of them he's sitting on steps leading up to a fairly large house that looks to be in a good neighborhood, in a few he's inside near one of the windows that overlook the yard, and in all of them his posture seems incredibly guarded and his expression is closed-off and unreadable, the look in his eyes more of a thousand-yard stare than anything. There's a date on one of them - 07/24/1988 - written in handwriting that isn't Wesker's.

There's a distinct lack of any photographs that seem to be professionally-taken; there are a few of a man who looks to be in about his early fifties at the start. He has grey hair and features that are strict-seeming but not uncaring; the shots of him seem to be outside of a medical practice building of some sort, or likewise outside of the house with a pair of large dogs.

The general lack of professionally-taken photos is a trend that's going to continue through the album, though there are definitely changes that are noticeable as time goes on in the background - a shift in location to the manor Wesker is currently living in, a few shots that are taken in recognizable corners of Recollé, Wesker looking awkward as hell outside the university as an older teenager; somewhere around his teen years the sunglasses start showing up, though he has the decency to not wear them all the time. Along with that, however, there's also a shift in Wesker's demeanor that seems obvious when compared to the first few images - as time passes he seems less guarded, and while he still seems to have difficulty knowing what to do with his face he doesn't seem as worryingly blank, he seems calmer and easier in posture. There are more pictures of his father as well, seeming older but not any less energetic and always still a little strict-looking, though toward the back of the album is where the professional things seem to be. Official pictures taken for professional profiles, a few newspaper clippings regarding the practice, an ID from the practice with the name WALTER SORENSON emblazoned on it. An obituary from about ten years ago for the same man.

Wesker doesn't seem bothered at all by letting Jaeger page through it; he'll let him take it at his own pace.]

[Wesker was a really cute kid... but he definitely understands why he was so closed-off and guarded like that. It's nice to see that his father took pictures of him anyway; it seems like he was trying to be a normal family and that's really touching.

There's something really charming about getting to see snapshots into Wesker's life like this; watching him grow up through pictures is wonderful, and Jaeger laughs a bit when the sunglasses start appearing. The end of the album is interesting too, and he studies everything curiously until he reaches the obituary. That's... really depressing, and he doesn't really want to read it right now. Maybe someday he'll ask to see it again, but for now...

...July 24th was my birthday, or at least it was the one assigned to me, because no one really knew. I assume that year was the first one I spent with him.

My father insisted on taking pictures once in a while. I didn't care for it much at first, but after a while I didn't mind as much.
