[Isn't it just.]

...There was a woman that I was with at the time, her name was Excella Gionne. She...loved me, I believe, though I don't remember feeling anything but mild disdain for her, if I felt anything at all. She wanted to see my projects through, however, and that was all that mattered, as far as I was concerned.

When the time to see everything come to an end was near, I infected her with the virus I had been working on for...some time at that point, I can't say how long. I threw her out on deck to stop a pair of people that were becoming an inconvenience for me, knowing that her body was incompatible with it and it would overtake her before long.

The result was what we saw on the boat.
