I'm sure that eventually, someone is going to tell you that you ought to tell him how you feel in some way or another. Be honest about it with both him and yourself, and make a decision about how you plan to progress from there.
However, that sort of advice tends to lead to abject humiliation of at least one involved party in some way or another, and I'm going to trust that you know how to read a room with this person in it better than I do in terms of how to progress.
